Who do you want to win this election?
Re: Who do you want to win the election?
If you want to look at my views, I had a in-depth discussion in a past post. My decision is made. I'd love to hear a real argument with facts from you.
Re: Who do you want to win the election?
Romney, I dont like obama. I have my reasons but i will not say because i hate arguing.
Re: Who do you want to win the election?
Obama of course. I really don't see how someone could favor Romney over Obama except for liberal hot head extremists. Makes no sense to me. As I'm typing this, Obama is projected to get re-elected with over 270 electoral votes. If anyone has any reasons to why Romney would govern the our country better than Obama, please let me know so I can change your mind.

I think you meant to say conservative hot head extremists. Also the electoral college is a joke.

Yeah, I meant to say conservative. And also, the electoral college isn't really that big of a joke. It's there to help the little states out so they'll actually matter when election time comes. If the whole system was switched from winner take all, then there would be big disputes between bigger and smaller states. It'd be federalists and Democratic Republicans all over again.

Re: Who do you want to win the election?
Trent, if you want to read my views on the subject, I believe the post was called Obama vs Romney or something of that nature. I typed a small novel explaining my views on the subject
Re: Who do you want to win the election?
The way the electoral college works needs to change. I hate the winner take all. I believe there are a couple of states that split their electoral votes already. That way if its a dead heat in a state both candidates get awarded not just the winner. I don't want it to disappear all together but just be changed to make fair.

Re: Who do you want to win the election?
Yea like nebraska, at one point during the race, Romney got 3 of the 5 electoral votes, but now I see he got all 5. I agree with Mormon though, the electoral college is retarded in determining who gets votes. Most of the states were close in the popular vote and should've rewarded both members. Someone will reach 270 eventually. It should be equal as that rather than Obama getting all the votes by winning by 2%. I think that if the margin of popular votes is spread by about 5% then each candidate should receive electoral votes. Regardless if this were the system, Obama still would have won the election. But i think this is more of a fair system rather than most states giving out all to one.
But fine obama won, I dont really care that much, I would have just liked to see another person lead our nation, ik romney isnt the best but I just dont like obama. All i know is that in 4 years, obama will be gone and I can almost guarentee a Republican will become president and our economy is going to skyrocket again. Obama's plans may help this time around, or they may not, but i can predict the HoR isn't going to allow many of obama's plans pass.
P.S. 93% of the African American voters voted for obama, You cannot tell me Race has nothing to do with that. If there were 2 white candidates, I bet Romney would've won, but still not by much.
Which is funny, I was talking about racism and how equal rights is basically shit now a days. (Not meaning to be racist) But African-Americans and other non-Caucasian cultures get treated so much better in the US than whites. Jobs give other ethnicity's jobs because they have to be a diverse business. If i go and apply for a job and a fellow Latino apply's for the same job, I can promise you he will get the job before me. Also there are many college scholarships and grants toward Latino-Americans and African-Americans. That's a bunch of shit, If you want the nation to be equal then government needs to stop treating AA's and LA's like they cant accomplish anything on their own. Those scholarships should be offered and dispersed among everyone.
For goodness sake, the Civil Rights movement was approx 50 years ago. This whole "racism card" needs to stop. AA's and other races can't use "That's racist" as a defense anymore when it comes to job opportunity, school funding, Welfare benefits, etc. They should only use that if someone is literally offending you on a one on one basis. If Obama wants change and get people jobs and get people in school, MAKE EVERYONE EQUAL. Not like socialism equal where everyone gets the same stuff, same rate of pay, etc. but let everyone have a chance at a job, scholarships, etc.
Thats my rambling. Like it or don't like it idgaf.

Re: Who do you want to win the election?
Barack Obama got put into the office after George W. Bush started a war that cost about 4 trillion dollars a year we've been in that war for a while. Obama got the person who planned the 9/11 attacks killed with a plan he designed. He has helped this country a lot. It is hard to get debt out of the trillions, it will take more then four years. Obama has turned job creation completely around. Americans are really retarded for classifying politics into groups, if your parents are Republican odds are you are going to be Republican, if your parents are Democrat odds are you will grow up and be a Democrat too. Political party's are ridiculous. By the way, don't just support somebody because your parents do. Look at how horrible Massachusetts economy was with Romney as governor. I don't like either of them but I like Obama more...... That is all.
Re: Who do you want to win the election?
Black people voting for Obama has really nothing to do with his race. You think it would, but it doesn't. A majority of black people are democrats. Also, a majority of black people usually vote democrat. Just because Obama is colored doesn't mean that's the only reason he gets the black vote. It is a reason, but not the only reason or even the biggest.
Also, I understand the electoral college is outdated. But, there are some advantages to it. If we did elections by popular votes, close elections that needed recounts would take forever. Instead of one state messing up and just having to recount the votes in that state, you'd have to recount all the votes in the country, lol. Also, small states would get cheated, because they would virtually not be worth campaigning in. Plus, the electoral college protects the interests of minorities.
Now what some people don't understand is since Obama has been in office, the economy hasn't gotten worse, it's slightly improved. 4 years guys. One guy can't bring a single economy back in 4 years. That's impossible, especially in the USA's case. If Romney would have got elected, how would he have been any better? The dude hardly wanted to tell America about his tax plan that would most likely have to tax the middle class. From what he's told us, his tax plan would basically leave us in 3 trillion dollars or more of debt, it would actually raise taxes on the poor, and barely effect the top 1 percent. And yeah, I understand not telling things because you still have some more details to work out, but come on.
Now what Obama is trying to do is balance. He understands that the top 1 percent has to compromise and take a slightly bigger blow so the economy can gradually get better over time. But it's hard to get things done when republicans think he is the enemy and constantly trash everything he proposes.
Also, those scholarships for minorities has nothing to do with the government most of the time. I myself had no problem getting scholarships. There are TONS of them. People just need to stay informed and look in the right places. Also, lots of scholarships started by minorities is not ONLY for minorities. It's just that whites don't apply because they know it'd be difficult to get it in most cases. But, that goes both ways for whites too. But I mean come on, there are scholarships for simply being left handed. Like really, if you do sorta well in school, you should have no problem getting some scholarships.
Now I understand Obama has his flaws. But blatantly saying Romney or another Republican would be better suited for office is ignorant. Also, it pans me when I have to try to have a nice political discussion with people who are ill-informed and get all there information from polarized extremists who exaggerate everything just so people who are in the middle of our political spectrum will tune out and most of the times not even vote. The exact thing happened in class between me and another person. She was saying that Obamacare is funded by a like $500 billion cut on Medicare. That's completely not true. Medicare will increase over the next few years, but the rate at which it increases will drop. Also she was saying that Obamacare would force the middle class to pay for the poor and illegal immigrants healthcare. Again, not true. I de-bunked her kindly though. She's a really nice person and plus she's kinda hot.
But yeah, that's it.

Re: Who do you want to win the election?
Trent, you are probably the most informed democrat I know, and I applaud you for that. With that being said, I disagree with you. The top 1% are the majority of the people hiring new workers. While I think funding education is wonderful, it doesn't do any good at all if 50% of the college graduates today can't find a job in their field. By taking away the money for the 1%, you are in effect slowing, if not halting job production. If they can't pay people, they can't hire. If they can't hire, there are no new jobs being created. It is the whole "Trickle Down" theory of Ronald Reagan. It worked for him, it worked for Bush, so who's to say it won't work today? I do not agree with the way food stamps are done, and I am very against ObamaCare, and I am simply not a believer in the Robin Hood tactic. Those people earned that money, why should it be taken and given away for things like free cell phones and service?? We are so far into debt that we will most likely never be able to pay it off, and he knows it. The last figure I heard was $52,000 per person, regardless of their age. This will only increase under his watch, and I don't know about you, but I don't want my children and my grandchildren to have to pay for a stimulus that failed, and for the CEO's bonuses from the bailout. GE will never pay back the money it owes, and they have no intention of trying. How high can we let it go? $100,000? $200,000? Where does it end? Spending when you have no money to spend is irresponsible, simple as that. Over $11 trillion added to the debt under his watch. I'd love to see your thoughts and offering mine again, but I respect the views of people who are informed.
Re: Who do you want to win the election?
I know many of the differences from Republicans and Democrats, but what really is like everything different?
